Heartwarming Birthday Reactions

Incredible Birthday Reactions…. (and a little shameless self promotion).

February 2014 was a fabulous month for 3 outstanding birthday parties ages ranging from 80 to 16 to 8 ~ all of them sharing the admiration of Johnny Depp.

BIRTHDAY #1:  I was told prior to my arrival, that the birthday girl who was turning 80, all requests and birthday gifts received on her special day were Johnny Depp related. Many of her family members had asked her “what would be the ultimate gift for your 80th Birthday”, her response “Johnny Depp himself”.  Her request had not passed her lips, when I walked in. Putting on my best Depp strut, I walked up the stairs then crossed the living room towards the birthday girl holding a single rose and a bottle of champagne.  Her shock was immediate, followed by tears of joy and laughter.  Several of her family members were equally as thrilled with others busy taking photos and videos of the surprise visit.  Giving her a big birthday hug, I sat down beside her to chat about her favourite topic…. Mr. Depp.  She felt like a celebrity with all cameras on her and her favourite icon sitting beside her…. but what truly impressed me the most was what she said to me during our talk….“I know you are not the real Johnny Depp, but you so look like him and you really made my dream come true… thank you”!  She warmed my heart and was such a good young minded and spirited woman, (she looked and acted like 68 not 80) that it came to my attention that those who can fantasize keep their youth.  She has such a loving family and there was so much love and happiness that filled up her home. It was a joy and an utmost pleasure to be a part of her birthday and birthday gift.

BIRTHDAY #2:  Next was a young man who was turning 8.  He had no idea that Captain Jack was going to make a surprise appearance to his house. When he opened the door, uncertainty and shock was the initial reaction… followed by yelling upstairs, “Captain Jack is here, Captain Jack is here”….. then ran back down the stairs, jumping up and down for joy followed by a great big hug with a “Thank you so much for coming”.  How can you  not feel warm “fuzzies” when you see a young child this happy?

BIRTHDAY #3:  Third birthday surprise appearance was for a sweet 16 who is just IN LOVE with Johnny Depp…. truly in LOVE.  A week prior, her dad had dropped off their gift for their daughter for me to give to her upon my arrival. Seeing me as ‘me’, the expression on the dad’s told me he was a bit leery and apprehensive about me making myself “look” like Mr. Depp.  I tried to rest assure him that his daughter will be surprised.  We shook hands and went about our day.  5 days later I got ready for the big surprise.  Upon my arrival at the restaurant, the birthday girl was sitting with her back towards the entrance way.  I made my way over to her mom, and standing behind her so that her daughter had a clear view of me, I asked “I hear there is a young woman turning sweet 16 today”.  Once again, shock was eminent ….. which was followed by screams of “Oh my god, Oh my god!”  She jumped out of her chair, shaking her hands up and down (in the motion of ‘I can’t believe this is happening’) and as she was vibrating I gave her a big birthday hug, followed by giving her a single rose and the gift from her parents.  She was literally shaking, (wonder what she would have done if the REAL Johnny Depp had arrived)….laughing and almost in tears.  We hugged several times and again my heart was warmed by her reaction.  Her dad was equally as shocked….. “I cannot believe how much you look like him… wow… you really do look like him…. I’m blown away!”  Again I was so incredibly thrilled to have been a part of this special family and very sweet 16 year old who enjoyed the fantasy that was given to her immensely.

Mad Hatter Shoot

A Shoot gone MAAAAAD!

Being a tribute artist of an icon who has filmed many different characters that one can have fun emulating (ie. Hatter, Sparrow, Tonto, etc.), there is no shortage of photographs wanting to be taken. I was approached by a local photographer, Herman Surkis who asked if I would like to be involved in a HATTER shoot.  I was all game.  as the shoot date approached, I became even more inspired after I learned the photographer was bringing in a live animals (a wolf and a hawk) as extra ‘models’ to the shoot.  Since Hatter is an eccentric character, it makes ‘thinking outside the box’ and getting creative outside of ‘Tim Burton’s box’, more fun and doable.  Here are some results…..

mad-hatter-9b

The photographer had previously forewarned me that my rather flamboyant and colourful ‘attire’ may upset the hawk or make her very ‘inquisitive’ (possibly peck at specific items or…. even me).  Upon the arrival of the hawk and its’ owner hawk’s, he took one look at my ‘rainbow coloured’ outfit and also seemed somewhat concerned.  Outcome:  No problem at all.  Easy was easy (no pun intended).  She was relaxed in my presence allowing me to move my finger from my other hand and point in the direction I needed her to look.  I would then comply my own expressions to accompany the idea that we were indeed communicating with each other, making for an intriguing shot.  She was brilliant.

In the photo above, it shows how content Easy was being perched on my wrist.  My movements were slow and steady and as long as I didn’t decide to have a staring contest with my new feathered friend, (I would have lost), we had a beautiful working relationship.

The above photo is one of my favourite finalized photos.  With a little photo shop (leaves were  real ), Herman was able to create a very fanciful Hatter shot.

Also on site was another photographer, Scott Laird who had a different aspect of shooting Alice and Hatter on a white backdrop……

Mistaken Identity Perhaps?

An Impersonators’ Highlight.

Every now and again I will Google search some of the Johnny Depp’s characters I have participated in in the past and will find a handful or two of photos of myself portraying that same character.  Dean Corso was definitely one of my more challenging Johnny Depp characters to emulate…. ie. short hair emphasizing Johnny Depp’s broader and somewhat shorter neck.  His hair was slicked back showing a rather square hairline which is hard to shape with a wig unless your get it professionally made as a replica.  The wig I used was also looked thicker which had to carry my own hair under it that was pinned in an up-do. All in all, the look was there and if you had seen the movie, you knew at least who I was.

Well…. in hindsight, my portrayal of Johnny Depp’s Dean Corso must not have been all that bad, for as I Google searched, “Ninth Gate Dean Corso” and hit images, many of my photos landed on the first page.

One in particular caught my eye.  This particular photo, not only was duplicated several times on this page, but it didn’t bear my domain name “denisedoesjohnny.com” that the others did. Slightly concerned I clicked on it.  My concern was quickly thrown out the window and replaced by astonishment.  It was a wonderful blog sight ~ “We Came From the Basement” blogs about Horror films past and present.   I looked at a handful of their other blogs and I distinctly saw that stills from the actual movie where accompanying their review.  I went back to my own photo which was accompanying a blog about about the 1999 Horror film, Ninth Gate. They did not mention that I was indeed Johnny Depp, but used one of my photos as Dean Corso as their still instead of one from the actual movie.  I was honoured actually, to be confused (perhaps), with the real Johnny Depp.

To every impersonator it is an honour to be mistaken for the real celebrity that impersonator is emulating. I have read about a handful (3 or 4), of other male Johnny Depp Look-alikes that were mistaken for Johnny Depp,…. but for a female? Must be doing something right… “aye?”

You look somewhat familiar……

A familiar face directing in my neck of the woods…..

Johnny depp as Constable Tom Hanson and Peter Deluise as Constable Doug Penhall, in “21 Jump Street” the Series.

A ‘made for TV Disney Movie “UNLEASHED”‘ was being filmed locally, and it was brought to my attention that Peter DeLuise, who played ‘Constable Doug Penhall’ along side Johnny Depp as ‘Constable Tom Hanson’ in the 1980’s hit series (and Cameo appearance in 2012 remake film), “21 JUMP STREET” was Director. One evening a few friends and I decided take on the crew’s offer and go to check out the set during filming. By 8 pm darkness was falling rapidly and when it was ‘a wrap’, I thought I would take a chance and stick around for obvious reasons. What I had not banked on was when it was truly a wrap, the large flood light aimed at the house of interest, was shut down.  The sudden darkness created only silhouettes of crew members making it quite useless to decipher facial features . I was hoping my eyes would adjust quickly…..(not), as people were rapidly leaving for the night.  As a rather eccentric person that I am (usually regretting my actions later), I spotted an individual that I thought had the walk of a Director (Directors actually have a certain walk, you ask? Seemed plausible at the time), I belted “it is extremely dark and I cannot make out anyone’s facial features, is Peter DeLuise still in the house by chance?” A rather tall man approached me: “Yeah he’s still in there, who may I ask is calling?” I went into a mindless spiel, including the fact he worked with a member of my family.  With his communication delay I was convinced, I had stuck my foot in my mouth (rather deeply I might add), for suddenly, with a HUGE grin, the man standing ahead of me, lit up his phone, aimed it to his face to show me…. he was INDEED Peter DeLuise.

Hmmm, good man, good sense of humour.  Of course …. instant mixed feelings about myself such as ‘idiot and moron’ spun in my head, along with a FULL cup of embarrassment which was also added to the recipe.

Damned if I do, Damned if I don’t….

Damned if I do, Damned if I don’t…..

It was a warm August Saturday afternoon, when my daughter Victoria and I planned a girls day out to do some sight seeing, shopping, dinner, movie and drinks.  Fast forwarding to dinner, (and slightly pressed for time to battle traffic to make the 6:45 showing for the “Lone Ranger”) we settled on Whole Foods in North Vancouver, (British Columbia) where you can shop and get a quick bite to eat should you so desire.

helena-bonham-carter-red-carpet

Helena Bonham Carter on the red carpet

Engaged by the beautiful surroundings my eye landed on a fresh looking woman with flawless yet slightly flushed skin, dressed in a pale lime green long frock and baggy matching blouse with her hair tousled in a loose up do.  I found myself studying her intently…… then turned to my daughter: “Wow, SHE is good… she looks just like Helena Bonham Carter!”  Looking in the same direction I was, my daughter, astounded, found herself also staring.  We then stared at each other….(brief pause) then realized: “It IS Helena Bonham Carter!”  Her husband Tim Burton was in town filming “BIG EYES” during this time.

She was less than 8 feet from our reach.  Did we take advantage of the moment?  No.  Are you calling me an idiot?  Possibly…. but here me out.

Sure I am well aware that Mr. Burton and Helena are good friends with Johnny Depp…. and what a great opportunity for me….. right?  Well my question is, how? So I go up to her and say: “Hi my name is Denise Pearson, I love all your characters, your work and your a brilliant actress.  Oh and by the way I am a female Johnny Depp Look-alike”!  She would look at me puzzled, I look at her …. I feel silly…. I would apologize for interrupting her day, feel like an fool and move on.  Telling her a cliche she hasn’t heard a ‘gazillion’ times before with ‘this is about me’ self promotion….. not my thing.  I’m not going to lie, yes I wanted to go up to her and get her autograph…. but it would be about HER, not me, on top of that, I didn’t want to draw attention to someone who, looking at her buggy that was brim full with large bags of groceries, obviously shopped for several hours.  As she sauntered past, I turned to see the path of her jouney, and at the end of it was a rather large, tall well built man with an earpiece in his ear, (obviously her body guard) as her final destination.  Intimidated, I felt myself suddenly glued to my seat.

When I tell people my story, of course their first reactions are: “Well did you go up to her and tell her what you do?”  Sure, I can understand, it would be an obvious scenario for me to do for a little self promotion….and open up a window that I exist….. but disappointment on their faces takes over quickly when I say: “No”.

Maybe I am not as big of an opportunist as I thought I was.  I admire Ms. Carter as equally as I do Johnny Depp.  I didn’t want to cloud that. Sure she is friends with the man I emulate, and no lie it would have been fun to have spoken to and with her….. but chances are, had I approached her to begin with, it would have been for a photo only.

TONTO and “The Lone Ranger” controversy, A Simple Opinion

tonto-banner.jpg

Let’s discuss Tonto and The Lone Ranger in simpler terms…

tonto-shirtless-1

Denise Pearson as Tonto
Studio photo by Bob Pearson

It is a real shame that this film did not do well at the Box Office on opening weekend, mostly due to critic “bashing”.  I have talked to several people, who, like many, ‘almost’ did not venture out to go see the film solely on the critics’ word and their opinion on the bad unforeseen perspective of the Lone Ranger along with a few Native American concerns about Johnny Depp’s depiction of the character Tonto which possibly implies setbacks to their culture. Those who ignored the bad press and went to go see The Lone Ranger, left theatres appreciating the sentimental enjoyment along with satisfaction that their $12.00 was worth every dime.  As far as I’m concerned I found it to be a good old fashioned ‘Hollywood’ film with modern technology thrown in the recipe.  Unlike the endless Zombie movies or repetitive CG acrobatic ‘virtually impossible’ long winded fight scenes that graces the big screens repeatedly today, (the critics panned the excessive CG in the Lone Ranger, sort of ironic).

This film was refreshing and worth seeing. Many (the public/viewer) are shaking their heads as to why the critics went to such great lengths with their scorn. Here’s a theory, a much simpler one: Probably (more likely) was scorned by those critics too young to have seen an episode of the series “The Lone Ranger” which ran from 1949 – 1957 (with daytime re-runs during the 60’s and 70’s) so in turn didn’t quite understand the sentiment of the remake, (closely based on episode one of the series).  So… question:  What makes a critic? When I tell my friends I don’t like a movie, my personal opinion should not affect their decision whether or not to go see it. Does this classify me as a critic? No, it’s merely my opinion. We all have our own thoughts on life, so why do critics have the ‘power’ to make up the minds of some listeners towards a particular flick? It’s only ‘their’ opinion, not facts.  I’m not criticising critics, I’m simply stating, keep their critique in the back of your mind because ultimately the final and real critic is you.

tonto the lone ranger 2.jpg

An interesting simple non-controversial example: Our daughter (mid 20’s) and son (early 20’s) neither have seen the series and have no knowledge of the story line or background, the relationship between ‘the cowboy and the Indian’ or any of the references. Our son saw the film first. Liked it but didn’t get the impact without any knowledge of the series. Many of the viewers laughed, which left him lost, “what did I miss?”.  Shortly after, my husband and I went to go see the film and absolutely loved it. Our daughter was next in line. Having seen The Lone Ranger, and remembering our son’s reaction, I did a test.  I gave our daughter 5 essential tips that she should know about the series without having to view any episodes. 1) What the series was about, 2) the meaning of ‘Tonto’ in Spanish, 3) the meaning of ‘Kemosabe’ from the series, 4) why the Lone Ranger says “Hi-Ho Silver, away” and 5) the score of Rossini’s “William Tell Overture” which is original to the Lone Ranger TV series, (not The Bugs Bunny Road Runner show). She loved it. She laughed at all the right spots, and could completely understand why my generation appreciated the nostalgia. She said it was brilliant and wanted to see it again.

From a observer’s point of view, I personally think. (and many agree) Mr. Depp presented a tasteful and wonderful new adaptation of Tonto along with much respect of keeping a “Native American” feel to his character. University of Cincinnati professor and Native American expert Ken Tankersley says Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Tonto is a very accurate portrayal of American Indian customs, dress and traditions ~ ‘Cincinnati.com’. Not all Native American’s criticized Depp’s portrayal and performance of the fictional character originally played by “white” American actor John Todd on the radio in the 30’s then replaced by Canadian Native American actor Jay Silverheels for the TV series in the early 50’s….”I was surprised how much I liked Johnny Depp, “ she told the News Gazette. “He makes us believe in Tonto – and really is the protagonist of the film.” stated UI Professor LeAnne Howe, who studies media portrayal of Native Americans.

Please see explanation regarding costume alterations
at end of blog

Many are worried that Johnny Depp’s portrayal of Tonto stereotypes the Native American ways of today by way of his short broken English, his excessive make-up, and the large black Crow he wears on his head. I do believe we need to give the public a little more credit. This film was after all a ‘remake’. A Hollywood movie will not suddenly make the viewer believe that what they see on the big screen is suddenly reality. It’s Hollywood… a place for fantasy, fiction, (unless otherwise specified), story telling and escapism. The movie is based on a fictional TV series that took place over 50 years ago. The public is aware that Native Americans today are contributors, educated and very relevant to society …. let alone shining with artistic talents and bringing forth their culture through art, crafts and visual beauty. I live on an island off the west coast of Canada in an area (Cowichan Valley), that is full of wonderful and beautiful native heritage (Native Americans are known in Canada as First Nations), where the First Nations peoples have brought forth so much of their culture and richness to our area. But that’s not all they do, many of them have high positions in Government, are bookkeepers (our bookkeeper), web designers (my web designer), lawyers, accountants, jewellery designers etc.

Yes, maybe a full blood Native American should have played the part of Tonto, but with Johnny Depp being part Cherokee, well versed, established and most versatile actor of all time…. the choice was well made.

I read somewhere that a former well known Native American actor, now a physician by trade (and who’s name regrettable slips my mind – I unfortunately did not document this) was approached for the role of Tonto. When he heard Johnny Depp was in the running for the part he stepped aside, and admitted no one could do it better than Johnny

Rick Mora, Native American Model/Actor told ‘Indian Country Today Media Network’, “the production provided jobs for many Native Americans”. Did he think the lead to Johnny Depp was fair? No. Did he think it was wrong? No. “Johnny Depp had the money to finish and back the movie”.  Disney was temporarily putting it on hold during production due to financial concerns.

As much as the film has brought in some historical accuracy, the character remains fictional.  However fictional, Johnny Depp brought insight to the character and had the opportunity to bring the Native American standards up to “equal” not “follower” in past Hollywood movies, or “sidekick” as referenced in the series.

No matter what the controversy, there is no such thing as having everyone agree about topics regarding life in general ~ if that were the case there would be no religious wars, no poverty, no misunderstandings….. However controversy does build knowledge about subjects one otherwise knew little about initially.  I am virtually certain that once The Lone Ranger will come out on DVD, it will make up for the lack of sales in theatres this past summer. There is only one thing in life that is worse than being talked about, and that is not being talked about”. ~ Oscar Wilde, or the modern day equivalent, “There is no such thing as bad press”.  Well… The Lone Ranger has definitely proven to be the top movie of discussion for 2013 and possibly a few years to come. “That must account for something, aye”!

COSTUME ALTERATION EXPLANATION:

This costume is not screen accurate.  Clothing and jewellery were made by me supporting local businesses, (ie. fabric stores, bead stores etc.).  Wig, feathers, bandanna and crow were purchased.

The costume I am wearing was altered to suit my physical needs.  The oblong beads on the breast plate was individually spun on a wood lathe by my husband and made wider on purpose to cover my upper chest area but not take away from the shirtless factor.  I am contemplating removing the bottom two rows to shorten the breast plate.

Since the time the photos were taken on location at the Kinsol Trestle, I was not happy with the crow’s short wing span and formation.  I found and purchased a new crow with wings that had a downward open position which looks more like the bird Johnny Depp wore on set, (see studio shots).

The cracked look of the make-up is still pending and being researched for a simple and affordable way to apply.

A pheasant feather has also been since located from the time of the photo shoots and added to the right side of the bandanna.

Johnny Depp Announces Retirement

Johnny Depp Announces Retirement

depp-announces-retirement-1

It is always a blow to fans when they hear about an actor or actress that they favour is leaving the film industry.  I found it amusing that after having read an article in the paper about Mr. Depp’s announcement of his future retirement plans from acting, the editor states that many actors and actresses are getting tired of the ‘mean spirited attitudes’ of the public on line:  “Johnny Depp isn’t the…….

depp-announces-retirement-3

I found it ironic that the editor, (who’s name I will not post) had an insulting dig of her own to pass along about Mr. Depp’s way of speech:  “Johnny Depp…..

 depp-announces-retirement-2

Along with a dash of sarcasm:  “The actor, 50, said there were quieter things he could be doing.  ‘I wouldn’t say I am dropping out any second, but would say it’s not too far away’.  Not before the all important ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 5’ or that ‘Alice in Wonderland’ sequel, surely?  ‘I think we’re all right in those categories“. Whew.”

I got the distinct impression the editor is not a huge Depp fan by any means, but wrote the article about his retirement knowing full well it would make headlines. I don’t blame actors and actresses to “fall away” from the big screen due to continuous criticism and petty insults on the Internet.  Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Group Forums, Chat Rooms and Web Sites have made it all too easy to slander celebrities or people in general.  I understand about freedom of speech, but what ever happened to the respect of others and the “freedom” for them to be themselves?  We’re not all perfect, and I am sure the editor who wrote this article has his/her own insecurities and imperfections, as we all do.   Johnny Depp has a shy demeanour especially ahead of the Media, which for some, puts horrible pressure on their thinking patterns.  How can we teach our kids not to become cyber bullies when many adults are bullies themselves? The Lone Ranger (for example) got unnecessarily panned… it was a good film in the way of adventure, humour and good old fashion “Return of true Hollywood Entertainment”.  These days, many ‘garbage flicks’ get the thumbs up.  I blame the endless lists of mindless reality shows for that.

Kooteninchela Deppi

Kooteninchela Deppi

One morning after my alarm went off, one of the headlines was about the discovery of a fossil found in the Kootenay’s off the coast of British Columbia Canada.  As much as the find was intriguing in itself, it was the name,  “Kootenichela Deppi’, that amused me the most.  As a resident of British Columbia and an obvious Depp fan, I had to satisfy my curiosity with further research and exact details.  I found the following report from BC Rainforest Ecoloque, hosted by Moon Willow Press:

A 505-million-year-old fossil found in Kootenay National Park, BC, was named after Johnny Depp:  Kooteninchela deppi. The arthropod was about four centimetres long and had large eyes that helped it find food in its shallow sea environment.

Imperial College London palaeontologist David Legg, who discovered the marine arthropod, is a Depp fan and reported in the Journal of Palaeontology:

“When I first saw the pair of isolated claws in the fossil records of this species, I could not help but think of Edward Scissorhands. Even the genus name, Kooteninchela, includes the reference to this film as ‘chela’ is Latin for claws or scissors. In truth, I am also a bit of a Depp fan, and so what better way to honour the man than to immortalize him as an ancient creature that once roamed the sea?”

kooteninchela-deppi

According to the journal, Kooteninchela deppi is described from the Stanley Glacier exposure of the middle Cambrian Stephen Formation in Kootenay National Park. Soft-bodied fossils exposed after the Stanley Glacier retreat in the Stephen Formation were imprinted in black shale and are preserved well. The journal reports that Kooteninchela deppi is a sister to Worthenella cambria, uncovered in the Burgess Shale Formation in Yoho National Park. These anthropods are distant relatives of scorpions and lobsters.

I like David Legg’s style.

GODZILLA filming on Vancouver Island, a windfall for local economy

Tamara Cunningham / NANAIMO DAILY NEWS, MARCH 20, 2013

TIMES COLONIST: “The film stars Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Juliette Binoche and Bryan Cranston.

More than 300 crew members are expected to land in the Harbour City for the eight-day central Island shoot and have pledged to use local extras, staff and equipment.

The buy-local effort is anticipated to pump up to $100,000 a day into the local economy, according to the Nanaimo Economic Development Corporation, which claims they helped woo the production. They helped facilitate conversations with the City of Nanaimo and made sure attempts to get permits flowed-smoothly, according to Sasha Angus, CEO of NEDC.

The economic corporation is aiming to make Nanaimo more “film-friendly” as Hollywood turns its attention to Vancouver Island. This is the second blockbuster filmed in the Nanaimo area in the last three years. The old Cassidy Hotel was scene of Superman: Man of Steel in 2011. The popular Twilight series filmed in the area two years ago”.

Pirate Over Board!

“Pirate Over Board!”

A couple of years ago when I attended one of several Classic Boat Festival events dressed as Jack.  At the end of the day, my husband and I were invited to come aboard our Victoria based Navy vessel, a 102 ft. sailing Ketch, the HMSC ORIOLE.

After a couple of hours pirating like rock stars,  my day’s work in character, make-up and full gear, made it time for me to disembark and find my way back to my own “ship”.  With fatigue eminent I truly was not thinking straight, and started to descend the ship backwards with my heals digging into the ladder (unlike most normal people who use their toes).  My husband claims it was the rum at work….

Suddenly, to my dismay, my knees gave way (perhaps from being on my feet all day), and I had a fair fall of 4 ft. ahead of me.  In a snap decision I decided to jump ‘into’ the fall in hopes I would land on my feet,…. or at least on my hands and knees on the dock below and not flat on my face.  Forgetting that the Jack attire is ‘front’ heavy, catching my balance once on solid ‘dock’ became no longer an option.  As I did manage to land on my two feet, the ‘front load’ of my attached miscellaneous goods kept  me struggling to stay upright inducing the “Jack stagger” causing me to aimlessly move forward towards the dock’s edge. With one last attempt to stop the inevitable, I dropped onto the dock in hopes to put the brakes on the fall.  Bewildered….. I kept rolling…..”what the…!?!”…. and ‘over the dock the pirate went’… into the salt chuck.

As my performance was being applauded by those crew members and guests still on board the HMSC Oriole,  my attire started to absorb the water rapidly making it feel like a dead weight. Holding on tight to the dock’s edge, in a state of panic I called for help.  Only my husband, (who noticed the anxiety on my face) and another large male heard my plea and dragged, (not pulled) dragged me out of the water.  Once on dry dock and totally embarrassed…. the crew and guests roared with laughter and gave me a standing ovation.  Oblivious to their generosity, the Captain of the HMSC Oriole then yelled:  “That was the best Jack dismount I have ever seen…. better than Jack himself!” …. followed with a ….. “I’ll party with you anytime… Captain!” Glasses were then raised by all with an, “Aye!”

What they didn’t realize was that it wasn’t a stunt at all,… not planned….. and as they were obviously impressed, I decided to laugh along with them all the while taking off my pirate boots allowing the water to pour between the gaps of the dock’s 2 x 4 planking .  Nothing was damaged except my, uh, well, cell phone….. did I say cell phone?

As we were heading back to the “Pearl” (Black Envoy), I was peeling of my soaked layers of “Jack” attire and laying my affects in the trunk, when I was met by a security guard flashing his light from my head to my feet and back again.  “Do you need a hand?” He offered. I smiled outwardly, (laughing inwardly) and told him I was just fine.  A bit of a shock for him to see a bearded face with rather feminine legs wouldn’t you say?

The following day, crew members on board neighboring boats were swapping stories about the large splash from the night before.  Never would they have thought it to be a “Pirate over board”, so they settled with a Sea Lion….

Phst.
